Material Handler Operator (Grapple & Magnet Experience Required)

MEMCO is currently seeking a skilled Material Handler Operator with extensive experience operating heavy equipment equipped with grapples and magnets. This position supports operations within a fast-paced recycling and materials handling environment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate material handlers (including Sennebogen 825 and 835) using grapple and magnet attachments
• Load, unload, move, and stockpile scrap metal and recyclable materials
• Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure safe and proper operation
• Assist with sorting and organizing materials for processing and shipment
• Follow all safety guidelines and PPE requirements at all times
• Communicate with supervisors and team members to maintain workflow and productivity
• Report equipment issues, malfunctions, or unsafe conditions immediately
• Maintain accurate records and follow operational procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience operating material handlers or similar heavy equipment
• Experience operating both grapple and magnet attachments
• Certification or training in heavy equipment operation (OSHA, NCCCO, or equivalent preferred)
• Knowledge of scrap handling and recycling yard operations
• Ability to perform routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented

Preferred Experience

• Background working in scrap or metal recycling facilities
• Familiarity with ISRI specifications
• Mechanical aptitude for minor troubleshooting
• Ability to work in high-traffic, fast-paced environments
