Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, physically capable, and customer-oriented Nursery Delivery Driver & Laborer to join our team at a thriving plant nursery. This hybrid role combines safe and timely delivery of plants, trees, shrubs, soil, and related materials to residential and commercial customers with hands-on labor tasks in the nursery. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, has a strong work ethic, pays close attention to detail when handling live plants, and takes pride in providing excellent service.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Duties (Primary when scheduled for routes):

  • Safely operate nursery vehicles (including non-CDL box trucks, flatbeds, trailers, or similar – typically under 26,001 lbs GVW) to deliver plants, trees, shrubs, bulk materials (soil, mulch, pottery), and other nursery products to customer locations.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles carefully to prevent damage to live plants and materials; secure loads properly using straps, racks, or other methods.
  • Plan efficient delivery routes using GPS and delivery schedules to ensure timely arrivals.
  • Interact courteously with customers during deliveries; verify orders, and obtain signatures
  • Inspect vehicles daily for safety and maintenance needs; report any issues promptly and keep trucks clean and organized.
  • Handle paperwork including delivery tickets, invoices, and condition reports for transported plants.

Nursery Labor Duties (When not on delivery routes):

  • Perform general nursery maintenance and production tasks, including watering, fertilizing, pruning, weeding, transplanting, and shifting plants to optimize growth and display.
  • Assist with receiving, unloading, and organizing incoming plant shipments and supplies.
  • Pot up, repot, or prepare plants for sale; tag and label plants as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe nursery environment (including sweeping, debris removal, and basic facility upkeep).
  • Help load customer vehicles at the nursery and provide assistance with plant selection and loading.
  • Support other nursery operations as needed, such as inventory checks, plant health monitoring, or seasonal tasks (e.g., preparing for peak spring/fall seasons).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required); experience driving box trucks, trailers, or similar vehicles preferred.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting (50+ lbs repeatedly), bending, standing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
  • Prior experience in a plant nursery, landscaping, gardening, or delivery driving is highly desirable but not mandatory – we will train the right candidate.
  • Basic knowledge of plants, horticulture, or willingness to learn about proper plant handling and care.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure plants arrive in excellent condition and nursery tasks are completed accurately.
  • Good communication and customer service skills for interacting with clients and team members.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Skills

  • Forklift, Bobcat, or equipment operation experience (a plus).
  • Familiarity with local delivery areas and routes.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
  • Opportunities for seasonal overtime during peak spring and fall seasons.
  • A hands-on role in a beautiful, plant-filled environment.

If you are dependable, enjoy physical work, love plants, and take pride in safe driving and quality customer service, we’d love to hear from you!
