Chef Training U.S. is currently seeking motivated culinary professionals for a J-1 Culinary Trainee position with an authentic Spanish tapas and paella restaurant group located in Palo Alto, California.
This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring chefs to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, high-quality kitchen environment while participating in a structured training program designed to develop advanced culinary and supervisory skills.
Position Overview
The culinary trainee will participate in a comprehensive rotational training program that includes:
• Garde manger and cold station preparation
• Hot line production and kitchen operations
• Food preparation, plating, and service execution
• Exposure to kitchen management and supervisory responsibilities
• Learning authentic Spanish cuisine techniques, including tapas and paella preparation.
Compensation and Benefits
• Hourly wage: $18.70 per hour
• 32–40 hours per week
• Morning or evening shifts available
• Employee meals provided

Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
• Culinary degree with at least 1 year of professional restaurant experience, OR
• Minimum of 5 years of professional culinary experience
Additional requirements:
• Upper-intermediate level of English

• Motivation to learn and grow in a professional kitchen environment
