Job Title: Housekeeper
Job Description

As a housekeeper, you will be assigned to a specific floor, given a checklist, and be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in various areas, including public restrooms and patient rooms. Your tasks will include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping linens from beds, making beds, and other cleaning duties as required. You will also follow a conversation script when cleaning occupied rooms, introduce yourself to patients, offer assistance, and communicate any additional needs to the medical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Clean public restrooms, wash sinks and counters, and refill supplies.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip linens, and push laundry to the shoot.
  • Make beds and perform other cleaning tasks as required.
  • Follow conversation script to introduce yourself to patients in occupied rooms.
  • Communicate patient needs to nurses or doctors and leave contact card for EVS department.

  • Ability to follow safety requirements and lift heavy items (up to 50lbs).

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • No prior experience required.
  • Previous hospital cleaning or housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and difficult individuals.
  • Availability to work weekends and locked down shifts.
  • Must be able to work evening shifts without reliance on public transit.

Work Environment

You will work throughout the hospital, including fast-paced and sometimes stressful areas like doctor's offices, patient rooms, emergency, and critical care. The job involves a lot of walking, averaging up to 7 miles a day, and requires comfort being around sick patients, including those with infections. Flexibility is essential, as the schedule changes weekly, requiring availability on weekends. You will work 40 hours a week, rotating through 7 days, with two consecutive days off per week.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
