Summary :
The State of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a detail-oriented Data QA Tester to ensure quality, accuracy, and reliability of data throughout its lifecycle-from ingestion into our medallion architecture (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake) through delivery of Power BI dashboards and reports. This role requires expertise in cloud data platforms and business intelligence tools with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data integrity. The ideal candidate will have strong technical testing skills, experience in agile environments, and the ability to develop automated test scripts tailored to data and reporting needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with product owners and scrum teams to understand acceptance criteria and translate them into comprehensive test cases
Design and execute test plans for data ingestion and transformations across medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers), validating business logic and data quality rules at each stage
Execute manual and automated test cases to validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
Identify, document, and track defects and data issues, working closely with developers to ensure timely resolution
Develop and maintain automated testing scripts using SQL and Python to improve testing efficiency and scalability
Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
Support continuous improvement of QA processes and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
5+ years of experience in ETL and/or BI QA testing
Strong understanding of medallion architecture and hands-on experience with Azure (Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse), Databricks, and Snowflake (preferred)
Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and Python for test automation and data validation
Experience testing Power BI cloud-based reporting platforms(preferred)
Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies
Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (Jira preferred); strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
