Job Summary

The Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS) is looking for a Content and Accessibility Coordinator to join their Stakeholder Communications team. As part of a collaborative team of communicators, you will develop, plan, implement and coordinate communications content writing and accessibility strategies, procedures, and activities to ensure stakeholders are well informed about our retirement plans.

This role applies communication strategies, principles, MSRS brand standards, practices, laws, and rules to write and edit both digital and print communications content, including content for websites, forms, publications, letters, and marketing materials. The incumbent is the agency’s digital accessibility coordinator, and the position will analyze digital accessibility requirements and coordinate the integration of accessibility improvements into MSRS communications.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and implement digital and print writing content to further the MSRS mission, vision, and goals.
  • Identify, develop, plan, coordinate, and implement accessibility efforts for communications.
  • Measure, evaluate, and report on communications content writing and accessibility efforts.
  • Coordinate communications content and accessibility activities with partners and vendors.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years* of experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and supporting complex organizational communications.

  • Associate’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Affairs, or other closely related field as determined by the agency may substitute six (6) months of experience; bachelor’s degree substitutes for one (1) year of experience; master’s degree substitutes for eighteen (18) months of experience.
  • Knowledge of communication and marketing principles to develop goals and objectives, create effective messaging, define target audiences, and select appropriate initiatives.
  • Experience drafting and editing complex written materials across a variety of communication channels and different audiences.
  • Experience translating technical, policy, or regulatory information into clear, plain language messaging.
  • Editing and proofreading skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience collaborating with leadership or subject matter experts to develop or refine communications content.
  • Knowledge of various software and technology communication tools, with the ability to learn and use new tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, CommonLook, Drupal, WordPress, Tableau, PowerBI, LinkedIn).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, plain language best practices, and inclusive communication principles.
  • Experience developing communication plans related for organization initiatives or workforce programs (e.g., marketing campaigns, law changes, policy roll-outs, system implementation, compliance initiatives).
  • Experience supporting retirement or financial communications at a government agency, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization.
