Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Chief Risk Officer (CRO), the Associate Director of Risk Management and Insurance (ADRI) will support the evolution of The Ohio State University's traditional and enterprise risk management framework through the development and deployment of risk management tools, processes, and practices, as well as governance. This role will be instrumental in supporting strategic decision-making in coordination with stakeholders such as the Office of Legal Affairs, Office of International Affairs, Facilities Operations and Development, OSU Wexner Medical Center, and others. The ADRI will act as an advisor to mid-level risk champions to create and execute strategies to optimize the risk management function. The ADRI will lead a team responsible for commercial insurance procurement, program enhancement and administration, risk control and claims management, contractual risk transfer, risk and insurance data management including budgeting and financial analysis, loss projections, and identification and implementation of operational efficiencies. The ADRI will lead procurement and development efforts of a risk management information system (RMIS), aggregating critical data to enable insurance program and trend analysis, reporting, and ad hoc functionality to support the department and university. The ADRI will support the enterprise risk management and international risk management programs, including identification and implementation of programmatic enhancements, in concert with university stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance, a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job. Ten (10) years of progressively responsible insurance experience in handling property, general liability, professional liability, and automobile claims. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the principles of an institution and a progressive outlook towards best practices. The ADRI will be a resourceful person who can handle conflict, foster understanding, and advance ideas with the ability to communicate candidly while inspiring trust. Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree and twelve (12) or more years of progressively responsible insurance experience in handling property, general liability, professional liability, and automobile claims. ARM, CPCU designation preferred. Risk management experience in higher education, public sector, or a large, centralized business enterprise. Medical Center claims experience is a plus. Experience working in a hospital/other health care organization or consulting experience.
Understanding of and exposure to enterprise risk management best practices.
